Wandlebury Trip
Year 3 had a fantastic trip to Wandlebury Country Park last week.
The Year 3 children had a fantastic time at Wandlebury for the Iron-Age Experience. They had a guided tour of the site, learning all about Wandlebury’s past and what evidence has been found to show what Wandlebury would have looked like in the Iron-Age. They all had a go at grinding wheat using a quern stone, which was very interesting as they saw a real quern stone that had been uncovered at the Urban & Civic archaeological site last week. They then baked some bread over an open fire and almost all the children said how delicious their bread was! They then looked at what round houses would have been like and how they were built, all the children had a go at weaving a little wattle wall and ended the day perfecting their skill at sling shot throwing. The children looked fantastic wearing their Iron-Age outfits which they had stitched during their DT lessons and the Wandlebury team we very impressed with the enthusiasm and knowledge the children had on this very interesting time in history. Photos of this day will be posted on the school website under Children’s Pages, Year 3, Gallery.
